Little Miss Sunshine (2006, IMDb M: 7.8 F: 8.0)

Little Miss Sunshine can be considered a classic in the field of feel good movies. A family of misfits and interesting characters unite when their youngest daughter enters the finals of a beauty pageant. With time not on their side, they have to travel cross-country in their VW bus. This simple story needs no special effects or worn-out clichés to capture the audience for the get go. A inspirational story about determination and making the best out of every situation is a recipe for success for a feel good movie. Definitely worth a watch!

Disney+

Palm Springs (2020, IMDb M: 7.4 F: 7.3)

This wicked and mysterious comedy is a great choice if you are looking for a feel good movie. During a wedding, Nyles and Sarah find themselves stuck in a time loop in which they relive the same day over and over again. Quirky and funny without being too scientific, this movie is a fresh take on time loop movies which seems to have grown popular over the last few years. Some might even say this movie is a “good waste of time” which makes it an excellent choice for a feel good movie.

HBO Max

Eddie The Eagle (2015 IMDb: M: 7.3 F: 7.5)

Eddie The Eagle is based on a true story and one that may have gone under the radar since its release. Eddie Edwards, an ambitious young man who decided to become a ski jumper, teams up with Bronson Peary - one of the great ski jump trainers. Their goal is to enter Eddie into the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics. A charming and inspirational feel-good biopic that also brings a certain amount of nostalgia sure sounds like a good option for a feel good movie night. In short, a movie worth watching.

Mid90s (2018, IMDb M: 7.3 F: 7.2)

In this indie movie, Jonah Hill goes behind the camera and takes the role as both director and writer. The story follows Stevie, a thirteen-year-old who spends his summer navigating between his troubled home life and finding a new group of friends. If you grew up in the 90s, this movie will certainly be a nostalgia fest which will take you back “to the good old days” of baggy jeans and hip hop music. This is for sure a hidden gem when talking about feel good movies. Another great option to watch this weekend.

Viaplay

Booksmart (2019, IMDb M: 7.1 F: 7.3)

From director Olivia Wide, Booksmart is a comedic teenage flick about two high-school best friends who realize they should have studied less and partied more. Before graduation, they decided to cram four years of fun into one spectacular night. This is a solid coming of age comedy that promises a great amount of feel good moments - which is why it makes this list. If you enjoy relatable, teenager problems, this is the one for you.

Netflix

I Love You Phillip Morris (2011, IMDb M: 6.6 F: 6.9)

A list of feel good movies would be complete without at least one movie starring Jim Carrey. I Love You Phillip Morris is inspired by true events of a cop turned con man once he comes out as gay. His actions soon catch up with him and he finds himself in prison. Lucky, while imprisoned, he meets the second love of his life whom he’ll stop at nothing to be with. Both Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor shine in this well-crafted comedy. It is colorful, funny and full of surprises which makes it a good candidate for a feel good movie.
